If someone in your life is hurting you or makes you feel afraid, help is available. Throughout the state of New Mexico, programs and shelters are designed to improve well-being and reduce future violence for children and adults surviving domestic violence, family violence, and dating violence.

Emergency shelter, advocacy, and access to orders of protection remain in place for victims/survivors of domestic violence.

Help can be accessed in several ways:

  1. Calling 911 in an emergency;
  2. Calling advocates in your community (the list is available on this webpage); or
  3. Call/chat with the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or text 22522.

“I was literally in need of almost everything at once. It was the most devastating time in my life. El Refugio was there for me in every way possible and continues to be there for my child and me.”
